JUST IN: Qatari investors eyeing Man United are confident with Erik ten Hag promised transfer backing. The investors are already making plans for big-money squad strengthening.
The Qatari investors are 'confident' of blowing any competitors out of the water and they want to hand Erik ten Hag a huge transfer kitty.
On Tuesday night, sources have disclosed a group of private, high-wealth individuals based in the oil-rich state, supported by Qatar's hosting of the world Cup, have set their sights on a club they view as 'football's crown jewels'.
They want to arm manager Erik ten Hag with a vast chest in order to take United back to the top of world football, which is where they feel the club belongs.
The group of investors is aware that the club's current owners, the Glazer family are seeking not less than £6billion for the club and that there is a potential cost of £2bn to either redevelop or rebuild Old Trafford.
There is one potential stumbling block which is Qatar Sports Investments' ownership of PSG. one entity cannot own two clubs in the same competition and PSG could meet in Europe.
The bid for Manchester United would come from separate, individual Qatari investors. There is no interest intaking a partial stake, with only a full-blown takeover being discussed.
Source disclosed that the group want to use knowledge gained from hosting the World Cup and seeking a new project.
A successful bid would see Manchester's two clubs on opposite sides of the Qatar-Abu Dhabi rivalry. It would also see Qatari-owned United go up against Saudi-owned Newcastle.
The Emir of Qatar, head of its absolute monarchy, Sheik Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, is a committed United fan who is well aware of the club's history.
