Former Bomet East MP and Kenya African National Union (KANU) Nick Salat has resigned.
The long serving KANU secretary general has called it a quit from the party months after his fallout with the party leader Gideon Moi.
His resignation comes a week after the party expelled him, following a disciplinary process.
In a letter addressed to the office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) Nick Salat says his resignation is effective February 17 2023 (today)

According to Nick Salat, his expulsion from the Gideon Moi-led party was unlawful.
"It is in my position that my purported dismissal from the position of Secretary General as communicated through the press was unlawful and against the rules of natural justice. However, and pursuant to section 14 of the Political Parties Act, I hereby with heavy heart but with a clear conscience, tender my resignation from the Kanu party effective the date specified hereunder," says Nick Salat.
"Take notice, therefore, that I, Nicholas Salat, have resigned from the Kanu party and therefore disassociate myself with the party except in situation where the law permits after this notice."
In a meeting chaired by the party's chairman Gideon Moi, it was resolved that Nick Salat be immediately expelled from the party on claims of gross misconduct and violation of the party constitution.
"That the report of the National Disciplinary Committee recommending the immediate expulsion of Nick Salat from the position of the Secretary General of the party on account of gross misconduct and violation of the party constitution is unanimously adopted," Said Kanu director of communication Joseph Towett.
The party's governing council called on the Chairman to propose names of suitable individuals to take over the vacant positions. KANU's National Executive Council stated that the individuals would be subject to vetting before being appointed in an interim capacity.
